south africa hunting guides

SOUTH AFRICA:

Cape Town Area: - Non Hunting and Wingshooting

This module covers a three to five day period and the accent falls on culture, the South African wine industry, history and of course the amazing flora and botany of the Western Cape area. Scenery and sea food cuisine of the area are two of the main highlights.

Accommodation is normally in historical 18th and 19th century Manor Houses, situated in the wine country where personalized service and exclusivity are the main goals.

A three day trip up the Garden Route area to Port Elizabeth, can also be added to this module, where once again scenery, sea side villages, ostrich farming and a visit to the Addo Elephant National Park are part of the itinerary.

KwaZulu Natal: - Hunting and Non Hunting

The highlight in this region is big game hunting, specifically species like elephant, leopard, buffalo, rhino, nyala, kudu, bushbuck, eland, blesbuck, impala and common reedbuck. Touring highlights are visits to the world famous National Game Parks of Zululand, specifically Umfolozi, Hluhluwe, Mkuzi and Lake St Lucia , the latter being on the Zululand coast and all aspects of Zulu culture and history, specifically with a day and night being spent in a contemporary Zulu village learning about the culture and traditions of this Nation, which is interwoven with the historical aspect of the many battles that were fought within the region during the Anglo Boer and Anglo Zulu wars. Deep sea fishing and scuba diving are two aspects available along the Zululand coast, which depending on the time of year, could include marlin on the coast and trout in the Drakensberg region's streams and lakes.

ZIMBABWE: - Big Game and Plains Game Hunting

Our visits to Zimbabwe are mainly oriented towards big game hunting with species like elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and plains game, mainly kudu, waterbuck, sable, impala, warthog, hippo and crocodile being the goal.

MOZAMBIQUE: - Wilderness Big Game and Plains Game Hunting

Here our concession, which lies on the southern shores of Lake Coborra Bassa, near the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, is where we conduct wilderness type hunts, often with the use of overnight spike camps in conjunction with stays in the main camp, where the roars of lions, hippo and other nocturnal game remind you that you are in the depth of Africa. with buffalo, elephant, lion, hippo, crocodile and leopard being the main quarries. This area does not have a large plains game population but kudu, zebra, bushbuck and warthog are often taken.

ZAMBIA: - Hunting and Non-Hunting

Once again the main objective here is a big game hunting experience which can either be a large scale safari specifically for lion, leopard and buffalo and of course the variety of plains game which differs from that as found in South Africa, which includes red lechwe, puku, Chobe bushbuck, Dafassa waterbuck, Cookson's wildebeest, sitatunga, black lechwe, tsetsebe, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, common reedbuck and oribi.

BOTSWANA: - Hunting and Non-Hunting

Here both big game hunting safaris including buffalo, elephant, kudu, oryx, leopard and similar game as found in South Africa is available, as well as photo safaris situated in up market camps and lodges in the Okavango Delta and along the Chobe and Zambesi river systems.

The latter area lends itself to visits to the Victoria Falls, as the camp is only about an hour and a half drive from the Falls area. Tiger fishing either by regular tackle or fly fishing is also available in this region and is of excellent quality.

NAMBIA: - Hunting and Non-Hunting

Big game hunting on massive properties for species like kudu, oryx, hartebeest, Hartman's zebra, warthog, black faced impala, Damara dik dik and western springbuck are available as is photo safaris up the Skeleton Coast, the wild regions of the north western parts of Namibia, specifically Koakoveld (Kunene region), and the world famous Etosha Pan National Park are some of the highlights.

Seasonally some of the best surf fishing along the Skeleton Coast makes a very interesting diversion for a trip to Namibia and is normally very successful.
